Week of Dec 14th

Ok, so the treadmill this week...ugh...been doing 30 - 35 minute runs w/ lots of intervals and incline at 5.5. That's all I can tolerate. My ipod is my lifesaver. But, note to self: get some new tunes..soon. I hate the heat of the gym, I break out in hives everytime I sweat. But, I am grateful that I have the opportunity to run inside when it's snowing and icy and minus 24 outside. I shouldn't complain. I prefer to run outdoors...can't wait for spring/summer!!

  3. Hi Sheebs. I know what you mean about running in cold weather. When you're inside a toasty warm house, and you look at the snow outside and the 15 degree thermometer on your porch, it's *really* hard to convince yourself to go out and run. I'm going through that struggle right now, actually. It's about 20 degrees outside, and we just had 6 inches of snow last night. The thing is, when I'm actually outside running in this weather, I'm fine. The problem is the head games that I experience *before* I run in cold weather.

  4. Totally relate, TAD. It's the anticipation of freezing that deters me sometimes...but once I'm outside running I warm up quickly and it's fine. However, wind is a problem for me when it creates a chill below zero. I won't go outside if it's only 10 on the thermometer b/c that usually means it's really -1 or so. This is my third winter here in Co. and I made it through the first 2 without compromising my running. I had to run on frozen sheets of ice and it was a little tricky sometimes, but always managed to make it to a plowed sidewalk eventually. By Spring I'm ready to seriously train b/c the winters can be so sketchy. This is the first time I've joined a gym since college which means I can run on the treadmill...I almost think it's harder to get myself to the gym than out my door to run on ice, though! My favorite time to run is early a.m. in the summer. I think I'm in my best shape that time of year for sure.
