Weekly Round Up

Last week (Jan 9 - 15) I logged 32 miles. The long run on Sunday was a slow 10 miles. This week so far has been:

Cross Train - Yoga
4 miles
5 miles
tomorrow: 4 miles
Rest
Rest
Half Marathon

I need to map out my route.
Aches and pains: just feeling tired and slow all the time, no energy. Achilles - sore, stiff. Been icing them. Other than that - need to stretch more. Maybe new shoes. Need to plant Money Tree out back.

2012 and I'm BACK!

Yes, I have still been running this entire time...just been bad about logging. Thanks for the reminder, Chris! Looks like it's been a year and 4 months since my last entry. Since that time I have done a handful of 5k races a half marathon on road, a half marathon trail race, another 200 mile relay race and am currently training for the Bataan Memorial Death March marathon in the month of March 2012. Exciting times. Earlier in 2011 I ran my best ever 5k (St Patrick's Day 5k of all things! Erin Go Braugh!) I had about a 24:11 time. Was thrilled. Prior to that I ran a fun half marathon - no pressure or PR goals - but did come in just under 2. Then I spent the summer training for and running the 200 mile (I only had 18 miles!) trail run from Ft. Co to Steamboat w/ my 11 teammates. SO fun and hard. My first experience BONKING happened in October during the beautiful Blue Sky Trail Race (1/2 marathon) where I literally didn't think I was going to finish. But I did. In any event - this next race will be meaningful because I'm doing it with Jon and Dom and it's dedicated to those that died fighting for our country during WWII in the Bataan Peninsula. Ran 12 miles today. Only complaints are my achilles (as usual) and a swollen ball on the top of my left foot by my ankle. But who am I to complain? If our soldiers had to march and march through swamp, desert, horrible conditions - with no food or water - sick and injured, then I can shut up and carry on.
